HS2 confirms they are carrying out illegal works to our drinking water

Sarah Green tap water

HS2 has replied back to Hillingdon Green Party Joint Coordinator Sarah Green to in effect admit that works are taking place that require additional purification. The UK has strict laws to prevent water quality deterioration so why are these works being permitted?

In the below attachment you can read more details of how Sarah has raised this with the local MP Boris Johnson and how HS2 has responded back.

HS2 confirms they are carrying out illegal works to our drinking water

Hillingdon Green Party are calling on Hillingdon Council and local MPs, to require HS2 to halt work on the aquifer and Drinking Water Protected Areas until HS2 can demonstrate they can comply with the law. As stated above UK law requires no additional purification in the production of our drinking water.

Sources such as the Ickenham source need to be able to achieve good chemical quality by 2027, as promised, without the disadvantages of HS2 impacts.
